Bill McMahon

Bill has over 28 years’ experience in civil engineering research and consultancy in the fields of structures, ground engineering, and road asset management.
From 1990 to 2016 he worked at TRL where he led research teams in the UK and internationally. In the UK he was the technical lead for projects on aspects of bridge loadings, including risk-based approaches and the development of load models, and assessing the long-term performance of utility reinstatements and their impact on the whole-life cost of road maintenance.
From 2012 to 2016 he was TRL’s International Group Manager, responsible for a wide range of engineering projects across Africa, including the implementation of road asset management systems and road and bridge inspection programmes in Nigeria and Malawi.
